Giving Tuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and is a global day of giving that encourages individuals and organizations to donate their time, resources, and support to causes they care about. It’s an opportunity to kick off the holiday season with generosity and community spirit, making it the perfect backdrop for this collaborative effort.

CONCEPT

This event was designed to harness the transformative power of Instagram and Threads as tools for social change. Both platforms enable creators to engage authentically with their audiences, fostering meaningful connections that amplify nonprofit missions. Collaborations between creators and organizations drive significant impact, allowing nonprofits to reach specific audiences that creators are uniquely connected to while enabling creators to align their initiatives with causes they are passionate about and share their platform power.

On December 3rd, Instagram and Impact Media, in collaboration with Giving Tuesday, hosted an inspiring event at The Knife Factory in Brooklyn, New York. The evening united 40 NYC-based social impact creators and nonprofit leaders to celebrate their on-platform efforts driving off-platform impact. Through interactive activities like a scavenger hunt-style networking game, the event fostered collaboration and encouraged content creation on Instagram and Threads.

A Threads-inspired three-course menu sparked meaningful conversations around Threads' role in building micro-communities and driving connections. Personalized notes connected attendees to nonprofit guests and creators, creating opportunities for partnerships. The event also featured a "Giving Tree" Polaroid station, symbolizing the spirit of connection and gratitude. Dinner was provided by Chef Bhookie and desserts were curated by Figwaspe. Post-event, attendees were encouraged to share their experiences on Instagram and Threads, further amplifying the impact of the event and fostering ongoing conversations and collaborations.
